A wicked thunderstorm tore through Cochrane tonight, flooding some streets and homes and pushing the two main stage acts of the Bow Valley Boot Stomp indoors.

Moments after Foxx Worthee lit up the outdoors stage with a powerhouse opening set, ominous clouds rolled in from the west. Lightning flashed on the horizon, followed by sheets of heavy rain and a steady crackle of thunder that engulfed the town.

The downpour has since eased, though the sky still flashes with the occasional bolt of lightning.

Festival Marches On With Saturday Lineup

Much to the delight of country fans, the Boot Stomp continues tomorrow. Gates open at 3 p.m. featuring main stage acts Annika Catharina, Travis Dolter, Kyle McKearney, and headliner Tony Stevens, plus six solo performers on the community stage.

Social media lit up with stunning lightning shots and the occasional rainbow, making it a dream night for photographers and storm chasers alike.
