Bow Valley Boot Stomp is a country music festival in Cochrane, Alberta, produced by Quirk Social (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through bootstomp.ca, how we use it and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Information we collect
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, and any other details you choose to give, when you subscribe for festival updates.
- Contact and application forms: the information you enter when you contact us or apply to be a vendor, volunteer, sponsor or performer, such as your name, email, phone number, business details and message.
- Purchases: if you buy merchandise through our online shop, we collect the name, contact and shipping details needed to fill your order. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store your full card number.
- Website usage: like most websites, we automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and referring site, using cookies and similar tools.
2. How we use your information
- To send you festival news, lineup announcements, ticket releases and event updates you’ve asked for.
- To respond to your questions and review vendor, volunteer, sponsor and artist applications.
- To process and deliver shop orders.
- To understand how people use our website so we can improve it.
- To keep the website secure and prevent spam and fraud.
We only send marketing emails to people who have given consent. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
3. Tickets
Festival and event tickets are sold through third-party ticketing platforms such as SimpleTix. When you buy tickets there, your information is collected and handled under that platform’s own privacy policy. Some application forms are also hosted by third parties such as Jotform and Google Forms, which have their own privacy policies.
4. Service providers we share information with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the festival and this website, and only as needed for them to do that work. These include:
- Mailchimp (newsletter delivery)
- Google Analytics / Google Site Kit (website statistics)
- WooCommerce and Square (online shop and payment processing)
- Our website hosting provider
Some of these providers may store or process information outside of Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Cookies
Our website uses cookies — small files stored in your browser — to make the site work properly (for example, keeping items in a shopping cart), to remember your cookie preferences, and to collect anonymous statistics through Google Analytics. You can manage your consent through our cookie banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. To opt out of Google Analytics on all websites, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
6. Embedded content and social media
Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, Spotify playlists or social media posts. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly, and those services may collect data about you under their own privacy policies. Links to our Facebook and Instagram pages take you to those platforms.
7. Photos and video at our events
Bow Valley Boot Stomp events are public events and may be photographed and filmed. Photos and video may be used on this website, on our social media and in promotional materials. If you would like a photo of yourself removed from our website, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law. Newsletter subscribers remain on our list until they unsubscribe. Form submissions and order records are kept for as long as needed to respond, plan future events and meet legal and accounting requirements.
9. How we protect information
Our website uses encryption (HTTPS), and we take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Your choices and rights
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it (subject to legal or contractual limits). To unsubscribe from emails, use the link at the bottom of any newsletter. For any other request, contact us through the form on our Contact page.

11. Children
Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website.
